The Power Professionals for use worldwide

A comprehensive product range fulfilling all requirements of industry

The reliability of a power supply unit determines the availability of the individual components of a system and whether complex systems function without errors. This is why the power supply units from Phoenix Contact are particularly reliable in worldwide applications: With the wide-range input, the power supply units are simply connected to any network, regardless of the site. The comprehensive approval package with CB scheme, GL approval or UL 60950 for IT facilities simplifies international application. Generously dimensioned capacitors provide extremely high operational reliability, guaranteeing a mains buffering of more than 20 ms under full load. Preventive function monitoring diagnoses impermissible operating statuses, thus guaranteeing maximum system availability. All the power supply units always work reliably – even during static voltage drops, transient failures of the supply voltage, or a permanent phase failure. Voltage drops, as can be encountered when starting loads with high inrush currents, for example, are compensated for with Power Boost, the power reserve. Advantages of the UI characteristic curve with Power Boost are the uncomplicated starting of loads thanks to the high power reserve and the guaranteed triggering of circuit-breakers due to the high short circuit current.

Full Power – even when the mains is down

Who is not familiar with the serious consequences of mains interruptions or even failures? With the uninterruptible power units from Phoenix Contact, the automation experts, you have solved this problem once and for all – for buffer times in the ms range for anything up to several hours!

Short-term mains interruptions are bridged by QUINT BUFFER, an absolutely maintenance-free buffer module on a capacitor basis. These modules extend the mains-failure bridging time of the power supply unit used at 20 A for 200 ms, and correspondingly longer when the current requirement is lower. Where the failure is of a longer duration, all the relevant process data is saved and controllers are shut down correctly to ensure that the system starts up again without errors. The buffer module also acts as an energy storing device for peak loads and for triggering fuses.

Long buffer times with high peak currents are supplied by the QUINT DC-UPS uninterruptible power supply units (UPS). These have durable rechargeable lead batteries. If the supply voltage fails for a longer period of time, uninterrupted operation for all connected loads is guaranteed. The UPS with integrated 1.3 Ah storage battery module is particularly space-saving.

The uninterruptible power supply units for 20 and 40 A have added flexibility. With three storage batteries of 3.4, 7.2 or 12 Ah , they can be combined to form an individual solution.

QUINT POWER – The powerful all-rounders

QUINT POWER
Wide-range inputs of 85-264 V AC for all single-phase devices and 320-575 V AC for all three-phase devices, coupled with an international certification package, make the QUINT POWER high-performance power supply unit perfectly suited to universal operation worldwide. They function up to 1000 W even in applications where static voltage dips, transient failures of the supply voltage or continuous phase failure are to be expected. The Power Boost power reserve has no problem starting loads with high inrush currents. Preventive function monitoring ensures minimum standstill times.
The universal product range also includes the special voltages of 12 and 48 V.

QUINT POWER-EX and QUINT POWER AS-i

For use in potentially explosive areas of Zone 2, there are two power supply units, QUINT POWER-EX, and one QUINT DIODE redundancy module, protection type "n" EN 50 021. The protection type "n" specially for the use of electrical equipment in zone 2 takes into account common industrial standards that have been adapted to the special nature of explosive gases. The standards from UL 1604 Class I, Division 2, make worldwide applications possible.
The QUINT ASI power supply units provide the power necessary to supply all AS-i systems. An integrated filter ensures that the modulated data stream is not affected.

MINI POWER – The slim power supply unit

With design widths of only 22.5, 45 and 67.5 mm, these power supply units are particularly slim and space saving. Special voltages of 5 V, 15 V and 24 V DC make for flexible applications. The wide-range input allows it to be operated worldwide in all single-phase AC and DC networks, not to mention in outdoor applications. The high operational safety achieved by long mains-failure bridging times is worth particular mention. The power reserve is capable of compensating for inrush currents when starting heavy loads and makes this product family the best in its class. The preventive function monitoring is also suitable for remote diagnostics.

A 100 W device with NEC Class 2 certification, DC/DC converters and the 102.5 mm flat power supply unit with optional DIN rail bus connector round off the universal product range.

MINI POWER

All the advantages at a glance:

  • Unbeatably slim
All uninterruptible power supply units and storage battery modules are so slim and have such a uniform design that the space requirement on your DIN rail is cut to a minimum. Short wiring paths bring order to the control cabinet.
  • Save costs
Extend the buffer period for the critical loads and save costs and space in the control cabinet by using smaller storage battery modules: With the integrated diode, you can divide your consumers into buffered and unbuffered loads – without a separate diode module.
  • Ready for action
Ideal battery management comprises automatic presence and quality checks, temperature-controlled charging and electronic overcurrent limitation – This ensures a high availability and service life of the storage battery modules.
  • Top system availability
Reliable, durable, clear, orderly: A current-limited supply output protects the relay contacts in the event of a short circuit. All important operating statuses are signaled, allowing the actual status to be recognized fast – a prerequisite for the right decision in an emergency.
  • Ingeniously simply
Pre-assembled plug-in bridges minimize installation work.
  • Switching off made simple
That cuts wiring: To perform a targeted shutdown of a system, buffer mode operation can be switched off by an external signal or after a time set on the device. No extra installation is necessary for the timed switchoff!
