UM 108 press-drawn sections for universal application – flexible housings for flexible electronics

The air conditioning company "GEA Happel Klimatechnik" in Herne produces high-quality components for heating, ventilating and air conditioning. A wide range of systems offered are now complemented by an additional standard program which is designed for specific functions and applications.

The air conditioning controllers with LON-based bus topology are a control system with just these features. Modularity and flexibility for temperature, humidity and heating control are today the focus of user-oriented applications. This guarantees a host of possible applications, starting in the domestic and business world and going on to industrially used workshops and buildings. Such requirements regarding the range of versions also place particular demands on the electronics housings.

The 108 mm wide UM profile panel mounting base is the solution. It is individually configured together with the optional cover to match the required module size. The PE contact integrated in the side element connects the inserted PCB with the DIN rail. This ensures good EMC properties. With the UM 108 profile, assembly is also fast and inexpensive: It is installed by simply snapping it onto standard DIN rails .

In addition to all the technical requirements, unambiguous labeling of the modules is also possible. GEA Happel Klimatechnik goes one step further and has the housing printed in series at Phoenix Contact. This optimizes capacity at GEA and allows them to apply their undivided attention to other developments.
