Surge protection for transceiver stations

Transceiver systems are generally particularly susceptible to surges. Antenna cables extending beyond a particular building are generally particularly long. These and the antennae themselves are directly exposed to atmospherical discharges.

For this reason, conductors with a coaxial construction and thus characteristics which are favorable with respect to EMC technology are used. Nonetheless, the danger of surge voltage coupling in antenna cables and the formation of parasitic voltages up to the sensitive interfaces of the transceiver systems is not prevented.

But protection against surge voltages is sensible not only for directional wireless and mobile wireless systems. Local communication systems or video monitoring systems should also have surge protection. In the private sector, you should protect your television and radio equipment against surge voltages with special adapters.

The safety of transceiver devices of any kind can be significantly increased with suitable surge protection devices. The aim of such protective measures is to significantly increase the availability and operability of the particular devices.
