Disconnect terminal blocks for Shell, Rotterdam, The Netherlands
"Pernis", one of the worldwide largest oil refineries of the mineral oil company Shell, is located in the immediate vicinity of the large Dutch seaport of Rotterdam. In approx. 60 "mini-factories" on the 500 hectar grounds, 4600 workers process 56 million liters of crude oil (350,000 barrels) a day into gasoline, industrial gases, plastics, oils and basic chemicals for the manufacturing industry.
INTERFACE components from PHOENIX CONTACT are found in the switch cabinets here as well. The signal lines of the sensors and actuators in the field, for example, are wired with knife-disconnect terminal blocks. From there, the signals go - via jumper wiring - to special VARIOFACE modules. These have a simple, safe plug connection that considerablv reduces the installation effort. Using the jumpering concept of PHOENIX CONTACT has led to space savings of 30 % and to significant cost reductions.
